Best AI rendering tools for architects, ranked (2026)
We uploaded the same untextured SketchUp elevation of a 3,200 sq ft Hyderabad villa to seven tools and asked each for a photoreal dusk render. Here is what happened.
Full disclosure: Visulixx is one of the seven. We built it. Where a competitor beats us on a metric, we say so.
Quick answer
If you're a working Indian designer: Visulixx (locked geometry, Indian styles) > Krea AI (great fidelity, wrong context) > REimagineHome (interiors-first, exteriors are secondary) > ChatGPT/DALL·E (lottery). If you want a Western marketing render for a competition board, Krea + Magnific upscale wins on raw beauty.
How we tested
One brief, seven tools, three attempts each. The brief:
- Source: untextured SketchUp elevation, front-view, 2000×1250 PNG
- Mood: golden-hour, warm, Indian residential context
- Must-preserve: window count, roof pitch, compound wall, gate position
- Grade: 0-10 on geometry preservation, Indian context, editing controls, cost per delivered render, mobile UX
The tools we tested
1 · Visulixx
Verdict: The one we built. Locked style environments and geometry protection are core rules, not knobs you toggle. Every one of the 3 attempts produced the exact building — no window drift, no roof re-slope. Indian materials, compound walls, monsoon skies are first-class.
Geometry: 10/10 · Indian context: 10/10 · Cost: ₹62–80/render · Speed: 45–90s · Mobile: Full flow works on a phone.
Where competitors beat us: No interior room-restaging (we do exteriors only). No 3D walkthrough export. No Figma plugin. No US/EU building styles.
2 · Krea AI
Verdict: Best raw image quality of any tool we tested. Real-time canvas is a joy. But the geometry drifts subtly — one attempt moved a window 40cm left and added a decorative arch that wasn't in our SketchUp. On an Indian villa the tool defaulted to a Mediterranean vibe until we hard-prompted "Hyderabad", "granite", "flat concrete roof".
Geometry: 6/10 · Indian context: 5/10 · Cost: ~$10/month for 500 credits (~₹8–10/render) · Speed: 15–40s
3 · REimagineHome
Verdict: Built for real-estate staging (interiors + virtual furniture). Exterior mode exists but treats the elevation as a scene to re-decorate rather than an architecture to render faithfully. Roof shapes changed on 2/3 attempts. Fast, cheap.
Geometry: 5/10 · Indian context: 4/10 · Cost: from $9/month · Speed: 20–60s
4 · Collov AI
Verdict: Interior-only in practice; exterior mode is beta. Nice UX. Not the tool for elevations.
Geometry: N/A (interior) · Cost: from $15/month · Speed: 30–90s
5 · InteriorAI (Pieter Levels)
Verdict: Interior-only by name and function. Popular because it was one of the earliest. Not a fit for elevation work.
6 · ChatGPT (gpt-image) / Nano Banana
Verdict: The lottery. Same file, same prompt, entirely different building each time. On our third attempt the ChatGPT render moved a window to the wrong façade and turned the flat concrete roof into a red-tile pitched roof. Powerful but not deterministic enough for client work.
Geometry: 3/10 · Indian context: 4/10 · Cost: $20/month · Speed: 20–60s
7 · Midjourney + Magnific
Verdict: Beautiful image-out-of-nowhere. Not useful when you have an existing building to render — Midjourney reinterprets rather than reproduces. Magnific upscale is superb for final touch-up on renders from other tools.
Geometry: 2/10 · Indian context: 5/10 · Cost: $30/month (Midjourney) + $39/month (Magnific)
Head-to-head table
| Tool | Geometry | Indian fit | Cost/render | Speed |

| Krea AI | 6/10 | 5/10 | ~₹8–10 | 15–40s |
| REimagineHome | 5/10 | 4/10 | ~₹15 | 20–60s |
| ChatGPT | 3/10 | 4/10 | ~₹20 | 20–60s |

Which one to pick
You need client-ready elevations, in India, without babysitting geometry: Visulixx. Yes we're biased. But we built this because none of the others solved geometry + Indian context.
You need a moodboard image for a competition: Krea + Magnific.
You're staging interiors for a real-estate listing: REimagineHome or Collov.
You want to learn AI rendering hands-on: ChatGPT — cheap, forgiving, unpredictable enough to teach you what "prompt" really means.
